MINGORA: A woman from Malam Jabba has complained of domestic violence and demand strict action against husband.

Shabnam, 20, told reporters here in Saidu Sharif that her husband, Gohar Ali, tortured her over a minor dispute two days before Eidul Fitr and even chopped her leg using an axe.

She said she also suffered head injuries in the violence.

The woman, mother of two minor daughters, said husband had been beating her up on one pretext or the other since they got married seven years ago.

Mother of the woman also demanded exemplary punishment of her son-in-law over what she called inhuman act.

She also urged the relevant authorities to arrange artificial leg for her daughter saying her is a poor family.

Later in the day, a public welfare organisation, Khwyando Jirga, took out a rally against the incident.

Holding placards, the participants shouted slogans against the ‘torturer’ and demanded his immediate punishment.

Chairwoman of the organisation, Tabbasum Adnan, said it was second incident of its kind in the region over the last few weeks.

She said earlier, a constable of special police force had chopped off the leg of his wife in Kabal tehsil over a dispute.

Tabbasum said perpetrators of domestic violence should be given exemplary punishment to check crimes against women, especially at home.
