PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani on Tuesday terminated from service three deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) on charges of having links with kidnappers and other criminal elements.

The terminated DSPs were Banaras Khan, Rahim Shah and Tajamal Khan, according to officials. They said that the three officials had also been suspended a few months back after reports emerged about their support to criminals.

The officials said that they were terminated in the light of a high-level inquiry headed by DIG investigation Mohammad Ali Babakhel.

They said that a few months back, police had recovered a kidnapped person from a house in Hayatabad, a report of which had also been lodged in the local police station.

During the course of the investigation into the kidnapping incident, it emerged that the three police officers were involved in the abduction.

The officials said that prior to their suspension, DSP Banaras Khan was SDPO Hayatabad, Rahim Shah was serving as DSP anti-extortion cell and Tajamal Khan was serving as DSP campus.

DIG investigation Mohammad Ali Babakhel was not available for his comments on the matter.
