UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan’s UN Ambassador Masood Khan met UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Friday to discuss the situation in Kashmir.

The meeting was a follow-up to the letter sent on Oct 12 by the Adviser on National Security and Foreign affairs, Sartaj Aziz, in which the the secretary-general’s attention was drawn to the escalation of Indian firing across the LoC and the working boundary.

Mr Khan urged the United Nations to play its role in de-escalating the situation. In this context, the Pakistani envoy underlined the need for resolving all outstanding disputes, especially Jammu and Kashmir, though peaceful means, dialogue and diplomacy.

However, Masood Khan said tranquility must be restored along the Line of Control and the working boundary to pave the way for any talks between the two countries.
