LANDI KOTAL: All Khyber Agency communal teachers association on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration against the agency education officer in Jamrud on Wednesday.

Communal teachers from Landi Kotal, Bara and Jamrud and leaders of political parties marched from Bab-i-Khyber to education office in Jamrud. They held placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the education official, Attiqur Rehman, and demanded his transfer and inquiry against him for alleged misappropriation of funds.

Speaking on the occasion, the association’s president Mohammad Sadiq Afridi alleged that the education officer was a corrupt and incompetent person, who took Rs60,000 bribe for illegal transfer of each communal teacher.

He said that salaries of four months of dozens of teachers were not paid due to which they couldn’t buy clothes and shoes for their children on Eidul Azha.

The teachers demanded of the KP governor, Khyber Agency secretary education and political agent to replace the official with an honest man and initiate enquiry against him.
