LAHORE: Two gunmen arrested in robbery cases have confessed to killing MQM MNA Tahira Asif, a senior police official told Dawn.
CIA DSP Riaz Shah said the suspects were wanted in several cases of robbery. He said the suspects were arrested for other cases and during interrogation, they confessed to killing Tahira.
He said suspects Imran and Kamran were arrested some days ago and Asif’s daughter and driver Azam, who had witnessed the murder, had identified them.
The DSP said the MNA was shot at and injured while resisting an apparent robbery in Iqbal Town in June.

Her brutal and unfortunate murder was indeed a big news. However, the arrest and confession of the culprits seem to go unnoticed. Why? Is the news not credible enough for media to be interested? Maybe AH and MQM are promoting amnesty for all murderers?

@Israr I agree with your assessment. This is low lying news just to fill in some thirst. It should have been the limelight of the day. This seems to be a reluctant news item. This is unfortunate with our system that behind every news items there is some vested interest lurking. A confession has to be free and voluntary and furthermore it needs to be corroborated with forensic evidence, perhaps DNA and then eye witnesses. None of that is visible in this small news items. I recall our present PM personally spent a day with the "murderer' of late Hakim Saeed and then announced that he is indeed the murderer. The high courts just let him go. Who murdered Hakim Saeed and the PTI MNA, no one would acknowledge but there are theories only. The whole system is a fiasco and shameless. They accept to read these press statement without any impunity.
