MUZAFFARABAD: Four army personnel were killed and another injured in a road accident in the southern Sudhnoti district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Monday, police said.

A pickup with five army men on board was on its way to Rawalpindi from Rawalakot, when it plunged into a ravine near a hamlet known as Afsar Market, at about 10:45a.m.“The vehicle skidded off the road amid drizzle and fell into a ravine some 400 yards below,” a police official told Dawn by telephone from Sudhnoti.

As a result, four persons identified as driver Nadeem Abid, Zohaib Ahmed, Mohammad Tanveer and Inayatullah were killed and the fifth identified as Tariq Naseem Shahid was injured, he said.

This correspondent made several calls to a Muzaffarabad based ISPR official for details, but there was no response.
