KARACHI: At least three policemen were gunned down on Tuesday in Karachi’s Quaidabad and Baldia neighbourhoods.

Unknown gunmen shot dead a policeman in Baldia's Ittehad Town area early Tuesday. The deceased policeman was a head constable deployed at a checkpost in Ittehad Town.

He was travelling to provide security to polio workers when he was gunned down.

In a separate incident, two policemen — a head constable and a constable — who were on a routine patrol were gunned down near Quaidabad's Dawood Chowrangi when unknown attackers opened fire at them.

At least six policemen have been killed during the past week.
