KARACHI: Three women and a man travelling in a vehicle and going to attend the Al Quds rally at the Numaish traffic intersection were shot at and wounded by gunmen on Sharea Faisal on Friday afternoon, officials said.

They added that the four people were coming from Malir and when they reached Baloch Colony, four gunmen riding two motorcycles intercepted them and opened fire on them after manhandling them, said SSP-East Syed Pir Mohammed Shah.

The three women and the young man sustained bullet wounds and were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment, where their condition was stated to be out of danger.

Police contingents rushed to the spot as the incident triggered fear and panic in the area.

The SSP said a few people had been taken into custody for interrogation from the militancy-infested part of Baloch Colony.
