MUZAFFARABAD: At least eight people were killed and 14 others were injured when a passenger bus plunged into a ravine in the Bagh area of Azad Kashmir, DawnNews reported.

The ill-fated bus was traveling from Saddan Gali to Rawalpindi area when it met the fatal mishap in AJK's Bagh area.

Security and rescue teams reached the accident site and shifted the victims to DHQ Hospital whereas those who were critically injured were shifted to CMH Hospital in Muzaffarabad.

Police sources said the deceased included five men and three women adding that the accident was caused by over-speeding.

Bus accidents are common on the mountainous track to the hill town because of careless driving and speeding.

Pakistan has one of the world's worst records for fatal traffic accidents, blamed on poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving.
