THIS is apropos S. Muslehuddin Ahmed's letter (April 8). The proposed suggestions by the writer are appropriate and timely. However, a meeting of the heads of Zakat ministry/department of all Muslim countries and nominated representatives from non-Muslim states with Muslim minorities, convened under the auspices of the OIC would be necessary to pool in ideas filtered via Islamic scholars, financial experts and academicians of respective countries.

It would help to structure the whole scheme based on a comprehensive term of reference, prior to its implementation. In short, a consultative process as guided by Allah in the Holy Quran is a sure recipe for success.
