CHARSADDA: A joint team of police and Pesco narrowly escaped a roadside blast in Yousafabad area in the jurisdiction of Umarzai police station here on Tuesday.

Police said the joint team of police and Pesco was conducting operation against power thieves and defaulters in various localities of Umarzai. They said that a remote controlled bomb targeted the vehicle carrying the team members when it reached Yousafabad. The vehicle was turned upside down. However, those onboard it remained unhurt, said an official.

The police cordoned off the spot and called the BDU personnel who defused the explosives found on the spot. The police lodged FIR against unknown miscreants and began investigation. — Correspondent
