LAHORE: Sattokatla investigation police failed to arrest the two people who threw acid on a young female lecturer of a university at her doorstep in PCSIR housing society on College Road on Tuesday.

However, the police picked a former class-fellow of the woman from his house in Punjab Government Officers Housing Society, Township, after she suspected his involvement in the incident. The police reportedly also quizzed the suspect's family and detained a couple of other people for interrogation.

Saddar SP (Operations) Malik Awais said raids were being conducted with no breakthrough so far.

He said the moderate acid burns on the woman's face and both arms would take time to heal. The SP said her marriage with a class-fellow was to take place after a few days.

The woman's father told the media outside the Jinnah Hospital that he suspected involvement of a former class-fellow of his daughter in the incident who had been picked by the police.
