S. Arabia seeks Pakistan’s assistance to improve ties with Iran

ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia has sought Pakistan’s assistance in its efforts to improve the kingdom’s ties with Iran, DawnNews quoted sources as saying.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al Faisal was meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz on Tuesday.

The two were discussing bilateral ties, challenges confronting the Muslim world as well as the situation in Afghanistan, Iran and Syria.

During the talks, Aziz said Iran and Saudi Arabia were two crucial states in the Muslim world and that Pakistan considered the kingdom a brotherly country.

Speaking to the premier's adviser, Faisal said Saudi Arabia accorded extraordinary significance to its ties with Pakistan.

Faisal is the highest ranking Saudi official to have visited Pakistan in years. His trip marks reinvigoration of the bilateral relationship that remained lukewarm during the Pakistan Peoples Party-led government.

The Saudi foreign minister would also be meeting President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during his two-day stay here.

It amazes me to red the headlines that Saudi Arabia Seeks assistance of Pakistan to improve its relationship with Iran. Are not Saudi Arabia and Iran two Muslim countries and each one has almost 99% population who are believer of ISLAM. Can not these brothers can sit down together and solve their historical and present problems. Cannot they see that due to their differences, there are elements in other Muslim countries which are at loggerhead with each other. It is time for Saudi's and Iranians to grow up, act as Muslims are suppose to act and bring peace to the land of Islam.

We the poor people of Pakistan also seek the assistance of PML-N to punish all Pakistani corrupt politicians, not take revenge, focus on country development, provide us roti, kapra, makan, electricity, peace, don't take gifts to increase your bank balance and don't appoint incompetent relatives and friends in govt.

@fida sayani: Hi Fida, I think that it is naive to think that because two parties have the same religion that they are not going to have political differences. Such differences arise from much baser instincts: struggle for power, wealth etc. And you message seems to imply that as Muslims we are expected to behave rationally and peacefully. I would argue that as humans we have to act rationally and peacefully.
