Of ‘public notices’

Published September 12, 2013

I READ a ‘public notice’ (Sept 7) which was hilarious idiomatically, but rather serious in substance.

The notice was about a kidnapper but the expression was so faulty that it hardly made any sense.

I would just quote the last line which read: “Age about 25/30 years, strong body structure, clean colour, height 5 feet 6 inch, weared shalwar kameez.”

I would only request the authorities concerned to get their public notices vetted by someone who can write plain and simple English.
