LAHORE, Dec 1: A team of government officials got arrested five ‘quacks’ and sealed two hospitals and three clinics in Ravi Town on Thursday morning.

Led by Irrigation Secretary Irfan Elahi, the team comprised Ravi Town Assistant Commissioner Amna Munir, deputy district officers (health), drug inspectors and other officials of the City District Government of Lahore and the health department.

Amna told Dawn the team visited various localities of Ravi Town and found some people involved in illegal practice. She said the team got arrested two ‘doctors’ working at Al-Sehr Hospital and Rahman Hospital in Shahdara Town without having a proper qualification. Later the hospitals were sealed.

Similarly, she said, three other quacks running clinics illegally without qualification were also got arrested from GT Road, Shahdara.

ROBBERIES: Robbers looted cash and valuables worth Rs2 million from a house in Sabzazar police limits on Thursday.

Four armed men barged in the house of Javed, held family members at gunpoint and looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables.

Some robbers stormed into the house of Kamran in Iqbal Town police limits and looted cash and valuables worth Rs800,000, while some gun-toting men barged in the house of Shahzad in Johar Town police limits and took away cash and valuables worth Rs600,000.

THEFT: Thieves sneaked into the house of schoolteacher Farzana by removing the exhaust fan of the kitchen in Nawab Town police limits and made off with cash, jewellery, clothes, sanitary items and other valuables worth Rs1 million. — Staff Reporter
