The recent Libyan liberation has reaffirmed my beliefs that US is fond of plastering their (indirect) achievements of overthrowing or killing dangerous fellows in the Muslim countries.

Let’s start with Saddam Hussain; who can ever forget the worldwide broadcasting of Saddam Hussain’s teeth being checked repeatedly for verification of his identity. He was not only a captive for them, rather an indication of their victory and absolute power over the world. Then, the historic execution of Saddam Hussain that took place on an early morning of one of the most celebrated days in the Muslim calendar – Eid, analogous to Christmas for Christians. The broadcasting of his execution remains as one of the most graphic videos on television in the history but it was allowed to be aired since it made their billion dollar war justifiable to the world.

A week back, Qadhafi saw his end by his own people while being supported by the Western Alliance. An endless supply of weapons and explosives could not have been possible without the international intervention. Was he a good leader for his people or suppressed their voices from being heard by the outside world for 42 years? Still a mystery and maybe it will remain as one … at least till this story has its one month of fame on the news channels. Later, it will all be forgotten.

His photographs and videos are available on every possible communication platform. The Libyans and US-led forces have not even prohibited any acts of photography of his corpse that was kept in a commercial freezer in a shopping mall.

My question is why wasn’t this whole strategy and protocol applied for Osama bin Laden when he was presumably found from the hub of military operations in Pakistan. The decade old war on Afghanistan faced much notoriety by the world, including a great number of Americans since it caused them hefty financial losses.

Wouldn't the American government have worn corpse pictures of Osama as a badge for ages to come? Wouldn’t they have broadcasted the videos of dragging him out of his so-called lodge for the past five years repeatedly around the world? The airing of the back of a man wearing a shawl does not serve as a proof of Osama’s presence in that lodge at the night of the operation. The initial dubious thoughts regarding the presence and killing of Osama all faded away within a week and it soon became a fact that he really was there. Not even one graphical evidence of his existence could make it to the media.

The US claims to show the pictures of Osama’s wounded body to the members of its Congress. Couldn’t Pakistani officials have demanded the same? They deserved to be given proof of his existence before being defamed in the whole world for providing refuge to the most wanted man on the planet.

No one else can be blamed if we ourselves do not have the intellect or leadership to stand up for unjust on-goings. The Western Alliance will continue to benefit from the lack of unison that prevails amongst us and keep making us witness incidents that makes one feel that they really are controlling the world.
