Speaking with Nabila inevitably lends one the impression that she is a person who is constantly finding new ways to explore her craft. How she does it though is a question for the ages. The most you’ll get out of her is “I do things intuitively, I let it happen effortlessly.” Loosely translated, that means ‘watch in awe’.

For some people, too much is never enough. But for a person like her, it’s the taste of success that defines who she is. “Ambition to me is about constantly evolving from where I am, not about accumulating riches.” With these lines, Nabila begins to explain the inspiration behind N-Pro that she opened in Oct 2011.

N-Pro’s professionalism is evident in the sleek and clean ambience which dominates the studio. “I’ve never started anything that I’ve wanted to stop halfway.” It had its fair share of growing pains but her commitment to the project remained unwavered. The persistence was rewarded when N-Pro was given the Best Hair and Make-up award at the Lux Style Awards this year.

On the eve of the launch of Nabila’s make-up line, Images on Sunday got in touch with the ace stylist for a sneak peek into the studio where she ventures beyond bridals by way of executing professional services in styling for casual to formal evenings, parties, editorials and commercials. She says N-Pro delivers elegant, natural and timeless looks while shunning the usage of heavy foundations and concealers. Bridal and personalised shoots/portraits too are conducted here where everything under one roof seems to be the motto.

An observation at the ongoing bridal beauty and makeover trends reveals that on the most special day in a bride’s life, ironically young women often end up suffering the most. Emotions fly high and anxiety runs deep as they anticipate the unknown. Both emotionally and physically exhausted, there is the added pressure of also looking gorgeous.

As a person who prides herself on her credibility, Nabila is unabashed in detailing how she sets herself apart from others in the business of bridal makeovers. She offers to put the ‘special’ back in the wedding day with personalised suites and award-winning professional, and the brand philosophy of perfection in styling with elegant, natural and timeless looks while shunning the using of heavy foundations and concealers. “Our philosophy is to keep brides refined and classic, whether they opt for traditional looks or contemporary ones.”

Long known as a revolutionary stylist who keeps a step ahead when it comes to initiating and introducing international beauty concepts and trends while adapting them flawlessly to local tastes and customs, Nabila’s futuristic vision encompasses complete and utter refinement of the art of applying make-up while keeping a sharp eye on aesthetics for an hitherto unrealised edge in professional looks. This she has achieved and hopes to further he conquests by her line of specialised make-up with tones that compliment sun-kissed, honeyed skin tones and define as well as highlight classic Asian features. — A.K.
