ISLAMABAD, March 31: Eid Miladun Nabi (peace be upon him) is being celebrated across the country on Sunday with religious enthusiasm and solemnity.

A one-day National Seerat Conference will be organised by the ministry of religious affairs at the National Library Auditorium here on Sunday where ulema and scholars from across the country and abroad will present their papers. The theme of the conference this year is “Problems and challenges confronting the Muslim Ummah and their solution under the principles set by the Holy Prophet (PBUH)”.

A prize distribution ceremony will also take place wherein position-holders in the Book Competition-2007 will be awarded.

The government has declared Sunday a public holiday. The national flag will be hoisted on all public buildings. There will be a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals at the dawn of the day.

Seerat conferences at the provincial headquarters will be inaugurated by the governors and at the divisional and district levels by the ministers or eminent ulema and mashaikh.—APP
