Banking goes digital as UBL launches new app with innovative features
Published May 24, 2019

One of Pakistan's leading banks and premier financial institutions UBL recently launched their new digital app that goes one step ahead in enhancing financial liberty and convenience on the go.

Apart from features like paying bills online and doing cashless transactions, the new UBL app lets users open a bank account without going to a branch and find discount deals offered by the bank on the go.

Here's how you can open a new bank account in UBL with just a few taps on your smartphone

The UBL digital app lets any new customer apply for an account opening using the 'onboarding' feature on the app.

With this feature, anyone with a valid Pakistani CNIC can apply for a new banking account through a few taps on their phone, without visiting a branch and carrying all the paper work.

Once the account opening request is generated through the app, a UBL representative gets in touch with the customer and visits them at their chosen location and time to take the account opening process forward. (This service is currently available only in Karachi)

Aas Paas (What's Around Me)

Another new feature introduced in the app as per UBL is 'Aas Paas', which lets customers find exclusive discounts and offers by the bank.

This information gets updated in real time basis and customers can find the best deals in the categories of their choice through their app.

QR payment

UBL also offers a QR payment facility for cashless transactions at shopping outlets.

Facial ID recognition

The app also incorporates advanced security measures such as facial recognition so that customers can perform financial transactions with complete peace of mind.

According to UBL, Pakistan has historically been a cash based economy, but going forward one can expect an accelerated shift to non-cash transactions.

By embracing the new models of digital transformation, UBL is introducing user-friendly financial products and services based on modern technology.

The launch of the UBL digital banking app is just one of the several initiatives the bank will be rolling out to transform banking in Pakistan.

UBL was also the first bank in Pakistan to introduce a Digital Design Studio where the discipline of design thinking and agile development methodologies is followed.

With the largest network of over 39,000 touch points, customers who don't have bank accounts can send money and withdraw cash from any of UBL’s Omni agents around the country.
