Three ‘militants’ held

LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of police claimed on Monday to have arrested three members of a banned outfit in Khushab.

A CTD spokesman said a team raided a house at Station Chowk, Mitha Tiwana, and arrested three members of Zainulabidien Brigade, a militant group.

According to CTD, the group comprises some Pakistani citizens who first went to Iran to visit sacred places (Ziaraat) there and the went to Syria and fought on side of Basharul Assad’s forces and later returned to Pakistan.

The spokesman said the three suspected terrorists were planning to attack sensitive installation in the area. The suspects were identified as Safeer Hussain and Muhammad Haseeb, both from Jhang and Shafqat Abbas of Ghookal village in Karor tehsil of Layyah district.

He said explosives, detonators, arms and ammunition were also recovered from the suspects who were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation after registration of a case at CTD police station.
