MUZAFFARGARH: Six militants were killed on Friday in Muzaffargarh’s Patti Sultan Mahmood Sharqi locality near TP Link Canal, some 60 kilometres from the city area. Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officials took action on being alerted about the presence of militant Yaseen, alias Imran, who according to the CTD was planning a terror activity.

Gunfire erupted. When smoke cleared, six militants were found killed while four others fled.

Sources said the CTD team found hand grenades and other illegal weapons on them. The bodies were shifted to the Muzaffargarh District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem.

CTD officials were after the other militants.

Among the deceased was Yaseen, alias Imran, the most wanted militant for his alleged involvement in heinous crimes. He was associated with the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi.

The identification of other militants had yet to be ascertained.
