PSL2 drafts in Dubai a star-studded event
A host of marquee cricketers participate in drafts for second season of Pakistan Super League.
Drafts for the second season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL2) kicked off Wednesday, with a host of marquee cricketers like Chris Gayle, Kevin Pietersen, Shahid Afridi and Darren Sammy present at the occasion.
Drafts began for the Platinum Category, with first pick going to the Lahore Qalandars who opted for former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum. Karachi Kings followed with picking explosive West Indies opener Chris Gayle, whereas Peshawar Zalmi retained their skipper, Shahid Afridi, and Quetta Gladiators retained England star Kevin Pietersen. Islamabad United too kept their winning skipper Misbah-ul-Haq.
In the second round, Lahore went for Windes ace spinner Sunil Narine while Karachi picked Windies all-rounder Kieron Pollard. Peshawar bagged current England limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan, while Quetta retained their captain Sarfraz Ahmed. Islamabad retained Australia’s star all-rounder Shane Watson.
The third round saw the Qalandars retain Umar Akmal, highest scorer of the first edition, while the Kings retained captain and all-rounder Shoaib Malik. Quetta reposed their faith in opener Ahmed Shehzad. Islamabad retained West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell.
The PSL final will be held in Lahore.

I think they would need to upgrade the Lahore cricket stadium as there will be a huge crowed coming for final. Endorsing the Zain's comment about considering the other venues beside Lahore.

Good Luck. Hope the semis and final are in Pakistan. I still think UAE should be abandoned by PCB coz its way too expensive a home for them. Why not Kathmandu ? People of Nepal will go nuts to find so many intl stars in their midst. NCA will earn well too.

Good work masahAllah. Put other cities in next PSL 3rd edition apart from Lahore please. That is the only platform to build up confidence to the international players that Pakistan is very safe to play in any city.

Super League is recognised cricket game where the renowned players from different countries show their performances together at different venues. It has accelerated the activities manifolds, whether the coverage through TV channels or the commercial activities . Betting in many countries is legally allowed but not in Pakistan. The lovers of cricket in Pakistan expect fair and transparent PSL , although many faces were visible at Dubai Show whose integrity had on question mark. The Qayyum Report and the London Court's decision have to be kept in mind.

Whole draft was brilliant. Lahore will be strong this time out but Zalmi still look like the team to beat. Bring our league to home and watch it progress. Imaging a league full of stars playing at Lahore, Karachi, Peshwar, Rawalpindi and few other big cities would be block buster. Imaging revenue generation for those matches and PSL as an entity. Ground realities are different but hoping for best. Kuddos to Najam Sethi and team for giving us a brilliant source of entertainment.

Good initiative and smart move to bring the game back home .... Happy for PCB, Pakistan players and audience. Who knows this can re-install international cricket in Pakistan. PCB could have gone extra mile inviting Indian players to associate themselves with PSL, this could have been a smart move. All I wish is good cricket to prevail and let the game decide which team or league is best in the world.All the best PCB

Players names on the jerseys should be their nicks. Like Boom Boom for Afridi, Universe Boss for Gayle, B-Mac for McCullum, Pocket Rocket for Sarfarz etc.
