KARACHI: The government of Punjab has expressed his intention to work with the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) for constructing affordable houses for the middle and lower class of the province.

During a meeting with the association on Monday, Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana asked builders to send presentations regarding affordable houses which would also be sent to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Buying a home was becoming a dream for many amid soaring prices, Mr Rajwana said.

ABAD Chairman Hanif Gohar requested the governor to bind all government authorities dealing in building and construction to approve plans of ABAD members only, as is the case in Sindh.

Mohsin Sheikhani, a former chairman of ABAD, said Punjab should change rules regarding the construction sector to fast-track building and construction in the province.
