KARACHI: A retired army major was found shot dead in a hotel room near Cantonment on Thursday, police said.

They said 55-year-old retired Major Imran Jawed was found dead in his room in the Mehran Hotel with a gunshot wound in his head. He had arrived from Lahore and checked in at the hotel at 9.30pm.

He was found dead with a bullet wound on his head. The police were informed about the incident at 3pm on Thursday.

A TT pistol was also found in his room. The police suspected it to be a suicide.

The body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where additional police surgeon Dr Khalil Shaikh also said that it appeared to be an act of suicide. The deceased’s family in Lahore had been informed about it.
