PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Monday approved the creation of posts for establishing camp courts and registry offices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Service Tribunal (KPST) in three remote regions of the province.

The approval was granted by the chief minister while chairing a meeting of the KPST here, said a statement issued here.

The chief minister also directed the finance department to do away with the traditional practice of imposing unjustified cuts on new posts demanded by various departments and institutions for effective service delivery.

Emphasising the need for equipping public service institutions with all necessary facilities including manpower, he asked the relevant departments not to turn down the demands of public service departments outright.

“The departments’ needs for service delivery cannot be compromised,” he said.

Khattak sought report from the finance department regarding the government’s proposal on withdrawing official houses and vehicles from the government officers and increasing their salary two to three times instead.

“This proposal (if executed) will prove beneficial to a great extend for the public servants,” he said.

The chief minister assured the advocate general that the government would fulfil all requirements of tribunal to ensure smooth disposal of the service cases and disputes of the government servants.

He directed the authorities concerned to consider feasibility of the idea for constructing a separate service tribunal complex and asked the finance department to consider the idea of granting of financial autonomy to tribunal to facilitate its effective working.

While approving new posts to set up registry offices of the tribunal in Abbottabad, DI Khan and Swat, Khattak directed the administration department to accommodate the tribunal offices in a rented building at a suitable location for the time being.

He also called for discouraging the tendency of transfers in government departments and said officials should be transferred in case of unsatisfactory performance only.

KP Advocate General Lateef Yusafzai, KPST chairman Azeem Afridi, secretary of administration and establishment department Hassan Mahmood Yusafzai, law secretary Mohammad Arifeen and other officials were also present in the meeting.
