TIMERGARA: Local teachers community on Friday postponed its agitation for a week after the district police officer assured to take to task the police officials allegedly involved in abusing a senior teacher.

During the day, the teachers of all government schools in the district observed class boycott on the call of the All Teachers Coordination Council (ATCC) against the alleged police violence on a teacher of government higher secondary school, Mayar.

The Mayar police had taken into custody senior drawing master Toti Rehman in a drugs case and tortured him at the police station.

During a meeting with the teachers, the DPO told them that the Malaknd DIG had formed an investigation team led by a superintendent of police, which would complete its task in a week. After the assurance, the teachers ended their class boycott for a week.

Meanwhile, PTI MNA from Malakand Agency Junaid Akbar on Friday demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister to listen to the reservations of party workers in Malakand division as they felt ignored by the PTI ministers.

He was addressing a party function at Talash.

The PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa organiser Fazal Mohammad Khan was the chief guest on the occasion. Mr Fazal also inaugurated the party’s tehsil office at Talash.
