HBL shock holders PAF in Challenge Cup

KARACHI: Habib Bank Limited (HBL) stunned holders Pakistan Air Force (PAF) 1-0 as Group ‘C’ of the NBP Challenge Cup kicked off in Lahore on Friday.

Saeed Ahmed scored in the 58th minute of the match at the Railways Stadium to throw the group wide open after the first round of matches with Wapda also winning by the same score against Pakistan Railways.

Wapda were made to toil by Railways and got the winner nine minutes from time through Waseem at the Model Town Ground.

In a Group ‘A’ match, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) got a second straight win when they beat the Higher Education Commission (HEC) 2-1.

Goals by Jabbar (40th) and Shakir (76th) saw PIA storm into a two-goal lead before Waseem pulled a goal back for the HEC in the 90th at the Faisal Town Ground.
