Man found dead in Lahore airport lavatory

LAHORE: The body of a youth was recovered from a men's washroom at the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.

The deceased was the son of a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) employee. His body was recovered from a washroom located on the 4th floor of the airport.

According to an initial investigation, the youth, who was prone to taking drugs, died of an apparent drug overdose.

His body has been shifted to a mortuary and further investigation into the death is under way.

According to a National Drug Use Survey-2013 conducted and launched by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Punjab has the highest number of people who use drugs, with 2.9 million people using illicit substances and 260,000 injecting drugs.

Pakistan needs water-tight border with Afghanistan to stem the free flow of narcotics into/through Pakistan. This is the only course of action that will address the menace of hard drug abuse at home and at the same time deprive the militants funds from the sale of narcotics!

Can't get enough of that wonderful stuff. Afghanistan produces very pure heroin and there is no consistency from dealer to dealer. It is very easy to get a hot shot and die. If it is pure enough to smoke it is too pure to inject. "My son wasn't on drugs." (Mummy)

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I feel sorry for the family in having lost a child. On the other, I blame the parents, the father in particular, for not being a proper role model for his son. This is obvious in that the son took a lifestyle path that led his death from a drug overdose.

@A. Khan - and Mr. Khan, how can you deduce such conclusion with so little information? All I read that he was a son of a Civil Aviation employee and addicted to drugs? You must be a psychic. A kid who just made a wrong decisions in life, that is the real analysis.

@Tariq, Lahore Before the 79' invasion of Afghanistan there was not a single heroin addicted officially in Pakistan, By the end of 1980 there were more than thousands of them. Then fast forward to Taliban overtaking Afghanistan and you would remember that the sale and business of poppy related fields dwindled extremely low. After the second invasion of the country in the aftermath of 9-11, the production has gone more than the double or even triple compared to pre-1979 stats. Look up this yourself and get ready to be shell shocked.
