Show must go on

DEMOCRACY must go on. The current opposition in parliament delivered nothing to the nation, except the exceptional gift of ‘reconciliation’.

To tackle the ongoing protests, the Opposition is teaching the PML-N the same formula — reconcile with all odds, shut your eyes to all realities and complete your term. It seems they believe that the constitution only guarantees continuation of democracy with no accountability.

I also wonder at Imran Khan’s unconstitutional demands. I am willing to believe that Imran is not against democracy or parliament, but only against those people whose mandate is under question. The answer to bad democracy may lie in more democracy and an apparent dysfunctional democracy may possess the answers.

If Imran’s demand of resignation is unconstitutional, then, Abraham Lincoln should also be condemned for his following words: “We the people are rightful masters of both congress and courts, not to overthrow the constitution, but to overthrow men who pervert the constitution.”
