KARACHI: The Working Committee of the Council Muslim League, which met in Karachi yesterday for about five hours with President Khawaja Nazimuddin in the chair, called for “united efforts of organised political parties” in the country “for the achievement of direct elections on the basis of adult franchise” and “for contesting the coming elections, including that to the office of the President of Pakistan”, reiterating “the resolution of the Pakistan Muslim League Council passed on October 27, 1962, in Dacca”.

The Committee which “carefully” considered “the present political situation in the country and the attitude of the present regime on the question of adult franchise and direct elections”, by a resolution, authorised the organisation’s President “to explore the possibilities of active cooperation of other all-Pakistan political parties for striving through constitutional means” in this connection.

The President was also authorised “to take all necessary steps for the implementation of this resolution” and was requested “to report the results of his efforts within three months”.
