He should be penalized in a form of fine for opening his big mouth un-necessarily to media and to cause tension within the players and the coach.

Some one should advise Mr Ajmal that he should refrain from talking to media in a language that he does not know very well. Better stick to Urdu or Panjabi. He keeps issuing controversial statements every now and then because of his deficiencies in spoken English.

Illiteracy is a big problem in Pakistan and Ajmal is the best example of it.

Ajmal was using his freedom to express himself. One may agree or disagree with him, but he should NOT be forced to apologize. Board did so only to make a white man happy.

Why am I not surprised. It will be better in PCB' s interest to ask Mr Ajmal to keep his mouth closed in public. This is not the first time he has invited unnecessary public attention with his silly statements in the media.

What good is a coach if it does not have the respect of the senior players. I also don't know what he coaches and to whom, is there an interpreter attached to him all the time.

I do not have anything personal against Watmore- he seems a nice person- but I agree with Ajmal's assessment. Whatmore has not really galvanized the Pakistan team, nor has there been any imaginative strategies put in place. It seems business as usual. I preferred the performance of Waqar Younis under whom the Pak team showed more energy and all round performance. The 3-0 win over England had a lot to do with Waqar's influence even though he had newly left, in my thinking.

You don't criticize your coach in a public forum, you provide feedback thru regular channels back to the PCB, and the PCB should evaluate coaches regularly and seek feedback from players. You don't bad mouth your colleagues, your supervisors and team - you provide feedback discreetly and as required. Ajmal has no formal etiquette- looks like Pak players lack etiquette.

Ajmal should refrain giving statements to the media, as MOST of the time, he says what is pretty controvertial, although it seems like he doesn't mean it. He is an excellent player and may be speakign the truth, but there are some things (or maybe alot) that people don't say to the media openly.

Geo sports whose job is limited to gossip and controversy, when they can't show anything they should also not be allowed to interview. The sports anchors most of the time very critical to most and always criticize players and management *emphasized text*

Its not the matter of saying right or wrong, Saeed Ajmal should remain in his pants its not his job to criticize the coach and the players should focus on the game. What a coach can do if the players are not performing, i think the players are the one who are getting paid a lot without results.

Cricketers presently playing for the country should not even be allowed to make comments on the TV or print media.The media should ask questions from the board members only.

Nothing shameful here, just POLITICS! Davenell Whatmore should himself do an introspection of his performance so far and stop throwing the blames around. Pakistani (administration) mindset needs an overhaul as far as the team management is concerned. Their selection practices and talent-grooming policies should be really reviewed by impartial players of the past viz. Wasim Akram, Zaheer Abbas et al so that very few lapses or loopholes exist in the larger interest of the game.

Dav Whatmore has taken on a very challenging job in developing a team from a country that is lacking in talent, professionalism, sobriety and maturity. Pakistan only became a world force in cricket when many of its players were playing in the English County circuit which benefited them immensely in developing their game and as individuals. Now that is no more and the quality of pakistan's cricket shows that. Pakistan's domestic cricket is retarded.

Ajmal should let his bowling talk rather than giving interviews to media and a slip of the tongue can cause unnecessary tension and rift esp. in a language which is 'alien' to him (given, what I have seen and read on his Facebook postings with all due respect to him!). The last thing the Team and fans want is internal squabbling and just before meeting the No.1 ranked Test team in the World (that is miles ahead in points as compared to Pakistan, at No.6). Whilst many of us are of the opinion that the PCB should change their policy of hiring foreign coaches and this time round, many of us felt flabbergasted by the PCB's decision to replace Mohsin Khan (by Dav Whatmore with no disrespect to him), whose performance as a coach speaks for itself! At this level and with other specialist coaches, the head coach is not a technician but a mentor, motivator, leader of men, strategist and someone who can communicate with his team in a language esp. the nuances of our part of the World, tribal and diverse culture, which the players can understand; and disappointingly most of our young and some senior players are/have not been well-versed in the English language nor well-educated or have the desire to advance their linguistic skills (other than playing with their android phones and irrelevant-postings on Facebook) when not playing cricket (unlike many players of yester years of the 1950s, 60s, 70s and even 80s)!

@asad: The issue is not Whatmore, its the team. Whatmore was amazing for sl. English language is a big hindrance. Am sure Dav wanted Pak to bat at more tha 2rpo vs Zimbabwe but Pak played negative. No other team would have played such a slow rate. Pakistan should have got those runs before the 2nd new ball.(within 80 overs). They could not play the new ball in both tesets after 80 overs. I only blame Misbah for this. I t was plain to see that pak will lose as soon as new ball was taken. Heck they didnt even last 6 balls.

Saeed Ajmal has history of making controversial and provocative statements....whether it is his poor english, or he is misunderstood or he actually mocks people. But end results is controvesrsy. it is not about Whatmore..it is about Saeed Ajmal learning a lesson to keep his mouth shut..

Coach was appointed by PCB and not by a player body. It was inappropriate of Ajmal to make the above mentioned comments publicly regardless of Whatmore performance. Ajmal should respect authority and stop blaming his linguistic capabilities to cover his faults in front of camera.

So let me understand this clearly. Ajju says that the coach cant communicate in local language. So m thinking this. Arent these guys international players? They should know english right? Everyone on international stage speaks and communicates in english. So according to ajju this is bad and he wants a coach who can speak in tribal language with the players so players understand and then they play well. Haven't ajju watched on TV how Inzi used to speak in after match presentations. It made the whole subcontinent look so backward. So dont ajju think instead of having a local coach with local poor tribal language he and other should learn english so they dont look fool in match presentations.
