The third Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said Awards was to honour national excellence across health education culture and public service under the theme ‘Wellness Redefined’.

Hamdard Pakistan hosted the third Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said Awards 2025 at the Governor’s House in Lahore, bringing together more than 800 distinguished guests to honour Pakistanis whose contributions are shaping national wellbeing progress and public service. Held in Lahore for the first time, the ceremony reflected Hamdard Pakistan’s expanding national footprint and its commitment to recognising excellence across the country.

The event was held under the theme ‘Wellness Redefined’ and was graced by Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan as chief guest. Addressing the gathering, the governor underscored the importance of celebrating individuals dedicated to knowledge health and community uplift, noting that national progress depends on recognising and supporting exceptional contributions.

In her remarks, Hamdard Pakistan Group Chairperson Sadia Rashid linked the awards to the founding vision of Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said. She said Hamdard was established to generate its own resources and reinvest them into healthcare education and social welfare. Honouring outstanding Pakistanis, she added, was a continuation of that mission and a tribute to the values of integrity and service that have defined Hamdard for more than seven decades.

Hamdard Pakistan Managing Director and CEO Fatema Munir Ahmed outlined key elements of Hamdard Pakistan’s ongoing transformation. She highlighted upgraded manufacturing infrastructure and category diversification from health medicaments and Rooh Afza drink syrup to beverages foods and spices. These now span syrups herbal drinks cereals dessert mixes condiments and recipe mixes alongside an expanded retail presence and enhanced export readiness. She said each step reflected Hamdard’s drive to redefine wellness by making quality wellbeing solutions accessible locally and globally.

Hamdard Pakistan COO Faisal Nadeem Mangroria closed the formal addresses by thanking guests dignitaries media partners and award recipients, reaffirming Hamdard Pakistan’s commitment to innovation and social impact.

The awards opened with the Education Excellence category. Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary was recognised for his pioneering contributions to biochemical research that have earned Pakistan international recognition while Dr Mariam Chughtai was honoured for her leadership in modern education and academic reform.

In Sports Excellence, international gaming champion Arslan Ash received recognition for placing Pakistan on the global competitive gaming map. Squash players Mahnoor Mehwish and Sehrish Ali were honoured for their achievements and for promoting women’s participation in competitive sport.

The Digital Influencers Awards were presented to Irfan Junejo and Muhammad Shiraz for contributing to thoughtful digital narratives through authenticity creativity and audience engagement.

The Bravery Award went to Muhammad Ali Swati and Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi for acts of courage that became reference points for resilience and integrity.

In Health Excellence, Hakim Abdul Hannan was honoured for preserving Tibb-e-Unani and strengthening its relevance in contemporary healthcare. Dr Faisal Sultan received recognition for his leadership in modern medicine and national healthcare particularly during periods of heightened medical need.

The Leaders and Social Change Makers category honoured Roshaneh Zafar for advancing women’s financial inclusion and Aslam Khaliq for integrating social impact into corporate culture. His daughter Shaista Khaliq received the award on his behalf.

In Journalism Excellence, Mazhar Abbas was recognised for principled journalism in a changing media landscape. Arshad Zuberi was posthumously honoured for his visionary leadership and contribution to nation building, with the award received by Shahab Zuberi of Business Recorder.

The Literature Award honoured Ghazi Salahuddin, whose message was shared with the audience and Zehra Nigah, one of the most influential voices in Urdu literature.

The Arts and Culture Excellence Award was presented to Tauqeer Nasir for his contributions to theatre and television and to Samina Peerzada for her longstanding influence as an artist and mentor.

The evening concluded with Lifetime Achievement Awards presented to Seema Aziz for her transformative work in education and social development and to the late Talat Hussain as an enduring cultural icon. His daughter Tazeen Hussain received the award on his behalf.

The event was supported by official media partners Hum TV Tamasha MyCo and Mera FM 107. The ceremony concluded with a musical performance by Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan followed by dinner for award recipients and guests.

The Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said Awards 2025 reaffirmed Hamdard Pakistan’s role as an organisation that channels commercial success into public wellbeing while celebrating individuals redefining excellence across sectors.
