Established in 1864, the Forman Christian College (A Chartered University) has been nurturing the social and intellectual capital of Pakistan.

FCCU has a longstanding reputation for leading with change and innovation. Over the years, FCCU has continuously implemented new teaching methods and revised pedagogy in order to promote greater learning opportunities for students.

Achievements and Credits

As one of the pioneering universities that has been opening doors to newer areas of opportunity for students, FCCU has multiple merits to its credit.

They were the first college in the region to open a biology department in 1898.

FCCU adopted the co-education model in 1902, opened a technical chemistry department in 1919, and started teaching Geography in 1924.

In 2004, FCCU became a chartered university, providing American-style Liberal Arts education to students in Pakistan.

The University is now recognised by the HEC in the W-category and currently has more than 5,000 students, 258 full-time faculty members with over 100 PhDs, and over 25,000 registered alumni.

Liberal Arts Education

FCCU's postgraduate programs include PhDs, MPhils, Masters and Executive education programs in specific disciplines. The Baccalaureate (Hons) program offers a choice of 24 majors, while Postgraduate stream offers a choice of 16 subjects and two professional diplomas.

By providing a genuine American-style, Liberal Arts education, FCCU is committed to enriching student's knowledge and higher education experience.

With a keen focus on extra-curricular activities as well as a balance between theoretical and practical pedagogical tools, the university offers students a multi-disciplinary education to broaden their scope of knowledge.

Campus Life

The purpose-built, state-of-the-art campus has been specially designed to promote learning while improving campus life for students. The University offers a health and counselling center, natural history center, botanical garden and the Ewing Memorial library.

The Library offers online and electronic reference services.

Students are also encouraged to reap full benefits of a rich on-campus life by participating in student-society events, sports, and extracurricular activities.

FCCU has also begun the construction of a dedicated campus center, complete with a digital library, auditoriums, dining areas, and dedicated spaces for all student-related activities and offices.
