CityU aspires to become a leading global university, excelling in research and professional education.

CityU strives to nurture well-rounded graduates who are competent professionals, critical thinkers and life-long learners equipped to cope with a globalised work environment and positioned to captialise on extensive links to mainland China and beyond.

The University offers professional education that prepares students for challenges and exciting opportunities opening up in Hong Kong, the Asia-Pacific region and throughout the world in business, creative media, data science, energy and environment, engineering, humanities and social sciences, law, science, and veterinary medicine and life sciences.

Undergraduate Degrees

The minimum graduation requirement for a normative 4-year bachelors degree is 120 credit units, subject to the requirements of individual colleges/schools. Students are allowed to graduate with a maximum of 144 credit units with a flexibility to enrich their studies with double majors or minor to prepare for the challenges in the globalised community.

For a bachelors degree with a normal study duration longer than 4 years, the minimum credit units for graduation and the maximum credit units for the degree is stipulated by the congnisant academic unit.

Joint Bachelor's degree programmes with Columbia University, USA

CityU has established partnership with world renowned universities and offers a variety of joint bachelors degree programmes. The joint degree programme with Columbia University provide students an international undergraduate educational experience. Students will spend two years at CityU and two years at the partner university.

On completion of the curriculum requirements, students will earn two bachelors degrees - one from CityU, and the other one from the Columbia University.

Entrance scholarships for non-Local students

The University offers various types of entrance scholarships for non-local students with excellent academic performance who are admitted to full-time government-funded bachelors degree programmes. The University will identify high caliber students for the entrance scholarships based on academic merit upon successful admission; students (applicants) do not have to submit application separately.

International students at CityU

In 2021-22, three types of scholarships are offered to international students:

• Top scholarships of ~USD 23,000, covering annual tuition fees, on-campus accommodation and living expenses

• Full tuition scholarships, covering annual tuition fees

• Half tuition scholarships, covering half of the annual tuition fees

• Diversity grant of ~USD 3,850 per annum for students admitted using Pakistani passport holders except top scholarship recipients
