The year 2017 saw Jazz focusing on bridging societal gaps by empowering youth through technology, and introducing innovative digital solutions.

As a socially responsible brand, Jazz has committed to assist the Government of Pakistan to address its international obligations under the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, through its 'Vision 2025.'

Executing its sustainability strategy under the 'Make Your Mark initiative', Jazz extends warm support to digital ideas and solutions in the form of technology incubators and digital literacy programme.

Here's a look at the brand's efforts in detail:

Jazz Smart Schools program

Jazz has launched numerous programme in an attempt to enable the youth to tackle socio-economic challenges at individual, community and national levels.

A prime example of this effort is the ‘Jazz Smart Schools (JSS)’ initiative where the brand has embraced digital innovation by improving access to quality learning opportunities.

Conceived in partnership with Knowledge Platform, and the Federal Directorate of Education, JSS has been designed to enhance learning and improve teaching methodology through smart learning solutions.

These are deployed through a digitally blended learning platform which is present across 75 female public sector schools in Islamabad.

The pilot two-year programme is impacting 20,000+ female students and 600+ female teachers/principals.

Under JSS, Jazz has set up digital learning centers with hardware kits that include laptops, projectors, clickers, tablets, speakers, UPS and mobile broadband. The program’s educational content includes digital lessons, videos, practice material, interactive games, and assessments.

To enhance teaching skills, JSS offers teachers with pre-loaded, skill-mapped digital content and a customised teacher training program. In-built performance dashboards help increase accountability as parents and relevant stakeholders can monitor progress of schools, teachers and students on a daily basis through mobile applications which can be used to improve planning in education service delivery.

The program was recently nominated for the upcoming GSMA Asia Mobile Awards 2018, under the category of ‘Outstanding Mobile Contribution to the United Nations SDGs in Asia.’

Launch of National Incubation Center, Islamabad

Jazz partnered with the Ministry of Information Technology to launch the nation’s largest National Incubation Center (NIC) in Islamabad.

The public-private partnership has been providing state-of-the-art incubation facilities, startup education, and networking opportunities with business experts.

The incubation and accelerator program aims to bridge the gap between entrepreneurs, innovators, academia, and investors in the on-going digital revolution in Pakistan.

Growth of such scale has only been possible through dedicated mentors, digital insights as well as access to Jazz’s Open APIs, allowing creative startups to access everything Jazz has to offer.

Efforts to digitalise Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Jazz has also been assisting the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) for the execution of its digital agenda.

Under KP’s Digital Youth Summit and Youth Employment initiatives, Jazz has been playing an instrumental role in building basic knowledge and understanding of the digital ecosystem.

The aim is to proliferate access to digital spaces and benefits of connectivity to over 40,000 young individuals in two years.

Under KP’s Durshal program, Jazz is partnernering with a network of innovation labs to build synergies with its already established incubation centre.

Initiatives like these stem from the brand's corporate culture, which is guided by staunch values where all employees and the leadership are customer-obsessed, entrepreneurial, innovative, collaborative and truthful.
