Defending champions Peshawar Zalmi may have lost two of their three opening matches of the Pakistan Super League 2018 but their West Indian batsman Dwayne Smith says his side should not be counted out just yet.

Smith, whose unbeaten 71 against Karachi Kings on Sunday went in vain, gave a positive spin to his team's defeat, telling DawnNews: "I'm very proud of the way the team played, especially in the field. Barring a few chances we really bowled well.

"I'm sure we'll bounce back, not let this game into our heads and make it to the play-offs."

Smith had a message for the Zalmi fans, saying: "Don't give up on us [just yet] because we haven't given up as well. We're going to come back and fight till the end."

Dawson hoping to learn from Pakistan legends

Money is the primary motive for international cricketers to play overseas T20 leagues but English all-rounder Liam Dawson is hoping to do a bit of learning as well during his PSL stint.

The Zalmi coaching staff is chock-full with experienced players and Dawson, who is yet to feature for Zalmi in PSL 2018, says he is looking forward to take pointers.

"It's obviously amazing to learn from people like Younis Khan and Saqlain Mushtaq," Dawson said. "It's good to be around some big names of Pakistan cricket and hopefully I'll pick their brains over the next month of cricket."
