Season two of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) kicked off today with the opening ceremony being held at Dubai International Stadium.

The opening ceremony started with the national anthems of Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and hit high notes with upbeat performances by Jamaican singing sensation Shaggy and Pakistani singers Shahzad Roy and Ali Zafar.

An impressive fireworks display concluded the event, and participants of the ceremony cleared the field to make way for the first match between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United.

Organisers had billed it to be an entertaining event, with celebrity appearances and a fireworks display.

At the opening, stadium floodlights were switched off, while LED lights of different hues were being used for a lights display in addition to live performance by musicians. Drummers suspended from the top put on quite a show.

all the best to PSL hope international cricket comes back to pakistan. It would be a tragedy if cricket were to go the way of hockey.unlike other countries 90% of pakistani cricketers are naturally talented & it wont take long for pakistan to claim its rightful place in world cricket which is at the top if inter national cricket cricket comes back to pakistan

Kannadaboy Feb 09, 2017 11:26pm

@ABE It's simply matter of where they can collect most sale money. Rember it's a commercial event and many Pakistanis live in the middle east.

All the very best to PSL by an Indian.I strongly believe that, this will give enormous opportunity to the youngsters, where PCB must identify the talents and must have a blue print to develop it.

Sure that PSL will share a platform for international guys to assess the improved situation in PAK by playing the finals.

All the very best guys.....cheers

Dr. SalariA, Aamir Ahmad Feb 11, 2017 03:19pm

Match fixing is on the horizon as some of the notorious Indian bookies and match fixers are flocking Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi - their favorite hunting sites, with millions of dollars in their pockets, in order to induce vulnerable PSL cricketers, officials, umpires, coaches, physios, managers and others to join the club.

What a silly joke?

RaAjA Islami Feb 12, 2017 09:24am

@Dr. SalariA, Aamir Ahmad What a shame that...PSL cricketers, officials, umpires, coaches, physios, managers and others are available to sell themselves for money....really shame....please condemn them not the bookies....
