TapMad TV opens up a world of portable entertainment

Pakistan’s newest video-on-demand service launched last week promises to reinvent the way Pakistanis watch television.

TapMad TV, Pakistan’s newest video-on-demand service launched last week at the Alliance Francaise in Karachi, with a promise to reinvent the way Pakistanis watch television.

With a mixture of sports, dramas, children’s shows, religious content, movies and music, TapMad includes content on-demand to suit the tastes of television audience across the country.

Available through a free Android and iOS application, as well as an HDTV box, available on purchase that can be connected to any television, computer or cellphone, TapMad also includes a host of features to allow users to watch their favourite content at their convenience.

TapMad TV CEO Yassir Pasha highlighted this at the launch event, saying, “The app also works as a DVR, and content can be recorded and downloaded to be watched within seven days” and can be paused, rewound and played at the user’s convenience.

TapMad TV features over 140 local and international television channels, with live television streaming available as well, to allow users to stay up-to-date on their favourite shows ─ as well as the latest news ─ on the go through their phone or tablet.

The application was launched at Alliance Francaise on Thursday, January 26, 2017 in the presence of celebrities like Mahira Khan, Ayesha Omer and Sikander Rizvi and others.

Ahmed Ismail, an attendee at the launch event shared his enthusiasm for the app, saying “this is an incredible technology that was developed in Pakistan and it opens up great opportunities for businesses to work with".

Echoing his statement, Fiza Zafar highlighted that the development and launch of TapMad TV was “one of the most inspiring things I’ve seen coming from within Pakistan, and a true testament to the entrepreneurship and innovation of the technology sector in this company”, adding that she “definitely plans on using the app!”

Indeed, this enthusiasm appears to be infectious. Speaking at the launch event, TapMad TV CEO Yassir Pasha highlighted the early success of the app, saying that, “so far, people have consumed over one million minutes of content on TapMad TV’s web and app together”.

TapMad TV is eager to build on this strong start, and accordingly will be the official streaming partner of the Quetta Gladiators for the HBL PSL 2017, offering users HD quality streaming in 4K quality through the TapMad app and HDTV box.

The app has also attracted advertisers from across Pakistan, eager to learn more about the advertising opportunities available.

To this end, TapMad offers banner ads, pre-rolls, mid-rolls and mastheads in the app and on the web version. TapMad TV is supported by Planet N, who has invested in the app.
