Good initiative, they can be posted to protect the schools. I am not sure if commando is the right word, looking at the posture it appears they can benefit from a structured training. To start with give them proper dress that would not hinder their performance in operational engagement. Some form of display of identification that would match their face. Proper combat shoes, knee and elbow shields and protective vest. The weapons they have may not be suitable for close quarter engagement. Training must be performed by competent and certified SWAT qualified institution.

These teachers should teach in villages across the country. This will help bring the education to an higher level with new a prospective. To GermanResident (and all the other nit-pickers): Something was obviously lost in translation by you. How do you equate the formation of special commando group by a provincial government with the willy-nilly spread of guns among the general population? As to shoes, niqab etc, these are perfunctory matters in the early stages of the development of this squad. Adequate financing and training, of course, is essential but more important is the courage, resolve, determination and commitment of these women to do something personally in taking a stand against barbarians who are inside the gates of their their home province. They should be encourage at all levels.

@Krishna , I work in a Law enforcement agency abroad and my experience is that a properly trained women in self defense and restraining is as good as any trained healthy man. In some cases I found women are more vicious and unmerciful than a man. So don't fool yourself, perhaps you know women who were brought up to obey men. You will find out quick if you ever try to fight a Police women in U.S or Europe.

A lot of comments to criticize my comment. However, what I meant was, in mumbai we have a lot of police women who are deployed during mass rallies. Once such rally in Azad maidan in Mumbai in Aug'2012, went out of hand and the protesters targeted police women, touching them inappropriately, molesting them and so on. More than 2 years have passed and none of the perpetrators were punished due to vote bank politics.

@Rationalist Yazidi female fighters and female fighter pilots from UAE (and other Arab countries) are reportedly ISIS fighters' worst nightmare (a fighter killed by a woman dies a shameful death or something like that, according to their twisted logic), so yes this proposition is a much-needed step in the right direction.

@Jainy I totally agree. If you want to train and establish a talented force, then equip them properly, so they take pride in their combat appearance. The quality of jackets and shoes are not up to the mark. Dress them well in proper combat dress, which gives them protection as well as are easy to carry. The concept of veil for these lady commandos is excellent.

@Rationalist We don't need this to show gender equality or inequality. Pakistani police has female police officers for decades. And the Air Force has female pilots. We also have female traffic sergeants. You really think they needed women clad in full niqab to portray 'gender equality' if it wasn't actually an initiative to protect and serve?

@Krishnan in KPK majority of the female from middle and lower middle class do not wish their pictures in media.
Their dress code needs attention. There is also a dire need to impart gender sensitivity training to them and in particular to their nale colleges with whom they will be working.

@daada / and what would be an appropriate dress code? Any dress code has to reflect the norms of a given society and as such it meets the Pakistani norm-any problem with that? As for covering their faces, all Special Forces, commandos do keep their identities hidden as much as possible, so this too is not an issue. What is to be commended is that these women have the courage and the fortitude to enter into a mainly male dominated field, so let us congratulate them and wish them continued success.

@shekar " Pakistani women are more courageous, see BB, Malala"
While lauding our neighbor for a worthy start, do not go overboard. India has endless, courageous vocal women examples who have performed in every sphere possible: Business heads (indira Nooyi, Kiran Shaw etc etc), leaders (IG, Jayalalitha), entrepruners, police-women (Kabir Bedi, Shakti Devi of UNAMA) even dissenters like Arundhati Roy, Medha Patkar, Romila Thapar etc etc etc.
