Going loco for local: Primary’s Jasmine Dew is the motia scent you’ve been looking for

The fragrance is suave — sober enough for a workday and cheerful enough if one’s to be out and about on an evening.

A bottle full of motia — I had no idea this is what the day had in store for me when I checked out Primary’s Jasmine Dew. Tired of perfumes smelling more or less the same, with copies, iterations and reiterations, Jasmine Dew was a welcome surprise for me. Motia heavy, a little woody (the good kind), and pleasant to take in, the fragrance makes you feel like you’re actually wearing a couple of motia bracelets. It may be strong for some, but as far as I’m concerned, it’s just right.

I’ve been wearing the fragrance for three straight days now and while it lasts for about four to five hours, it’s definitely worth keeping the bottle in your bag as you go about your day and touch back up if it wears off. Easy on the skin, Jasmine Dew is perfect for a summer evening, whether you’re heading out for a not-super-formal dinner party, or to a wedding; or even as you go about your day. The fragrance is suave — sober enough for a workday and cheerful enough if one’s to be out and about in the evening.

The only drawback is that the fragrance doesn’t last long enough and needs reapplying if you have a long day ahead of you. That may be because Primary appears to focus very heavily on skincare via science and perhaps the perfume may be best for the skin in its current composition. But that’s just me conjecturing.

As for the price point, Jasmine Dew is pretty affordable at Rs2,900, especially when compared with what’s out there, both locally and internationally. I would prefer Primary’s JD over an Elizabeth Arden any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I’d rate it 4 out of 5, easily.
