You'd think it would be super easy to find a stranger given the power of social media, right? What if we told you that's not always the case and some people still don't have profiles online? Case in point: Rahul from London (no, not Mr Raichand) who dropped his wallet and had to be found.

It all began when Ghazi Taimur, who is from Lahore, tried to fulfil his responsibility as a good samaritan in England and began the journey of returning his wallet to Mr Rahul in a Bollywood-style chase.

He shared a picture of the wallet on Twitter, announcing that he was on the hunt for its owner and promised to keep netizens informed. Netizens who at first, just like us, thought this was an elaborate prank straight from K3G.

"Guys! Just found this wallet on Shoreditch High street. Name on the bank card suggests the wallet belongs to a Rahul R******. Time to HUNT RAHUL DOWN. Will update y’all," he posted.

Taimur was determined to return the wallet to its rightful owner but Rahul wasn't on Facebook or Instagram. Who hurt you, Rahul?

"Very private individual with no social media. Common Rahul, could do better than that."

There was no giving up though. Google knows everything. Or maybe not...

"A Google image search suggest all Rahul R******* live in Gujrat, India. Don’t think it’s them. Need suggestions!" Ghazi posted, before trying out the last refuge of professional stalkers — Linked In!

"Tried LinkedIn now! Of the 3 Rahul R****** - one works in London. Can’t seem to send a message, they’ve locked their profile. Creepily sent them a follow request that they may never accept? Kya na Rahul," he posted.

You'd think it would be super easy from here but nope and nope. While ordinary folks might have given up at this point, Taimur didn’t stop his hunt there. He tried to look for Rahul’s office address next!

"LinkedIn says Rahul works for a UK Food and Beverage company. Has to be him! I’m going to call their head office now. Google Maps searching their head office," he updated.

Surprisingly, the company didn't have their address on their website, nor a customer service helpline. The plot thickens.

But "I’m going on the Companies House website," a determined Taimur exclaimed.

One step closer.

You'd think by now Rahul would've realised his wallet was missing. Yes? No?

"'Anjali-style’ running to his head office now. He better not have cancelled his bank cards else this was for nothing. Rahul I’m coming!" Taimur promised.

He stopped for a quick coffee fix. The chase was tiring, ya know?

He made it to the office and at this point, everyone was internally screaming!

Lo and behold! Who do we have here?

"We found Rahul. Finance Manager. He’s in shock. Tears in his eyes. We got you Rahul!" he exclaimed as the mission came to an end.

Garnering 11,000 likes on Twitter, Taimur's journey was applauded not just for the exciting twists and turns but for representing Pakistan and its citizens as people full of kindness. He thanked everyone for the love they sent his way.

"I’m slightly teary-eyed Pleading face as I type this, but I’m GRATEFUL for so much kindness and love I’ve received from strangers in this past one day. Thank you," he wrote. "It’s been a terribly tough year for us all and it’s little acts of kindness that make this world a better place to live in."

It was a wild ride, but there's one thing we concluded from it all: we want a friend like Ghazi Taimur!

Bravo! But, a lost cause. This person could have gone to any branch Manager of that bank. Informed them what has transpired and that he wishes to have the wallet handed over to the owner in person. Bank would have the owner's details and would gladly do this. If the branch was not the right one they could have checked their lists and arranged necessary arrangements. I think this whole netizen drama was fabricated for pure personal pleasure and notoriety. Oldest trick in the netizen trade.

Why didn't Taimoor just hand in the wallet at the nearest police station ? I'm sure they'd have given it to Rahul. That's their duty and they're not like our police, here .

@Tamara If you take the card to the bank, they cancel it and break it down. The owner has to go through the replacement process. The card may have been registered on several accounts as a payment method, all have to be changed. Losing a credit card is not just a card but for some people a whole lot of trouble. I know, it is for me. If I lose a card and someone brings it to me back I would love that jesture.
