People are praying for the safety of residents of Sector E-11 after videos and pictures of the devastation were shared online.

Some areas in Islamabad have been hit by a wave of urban flooding that left two people dead. The flooding was reportedly caused by a cloudburst and has left social media in shock.

People have been praying for the safety of residents of Islamabad, especially those in Sector E-11, which bore the brunt of the flooding.

Videos showed cars being swept away by torrents of water.

People believe the reason for the flooding is the development of housing societies on natural drainage points.

Devastation was seen on the streets of the neighbourhood after the water receded.

But while many focused on the devastation, some urged people to appreciate the workers who helped restore power to the city.

Others noted that Sector E-11 is not the only area to be hit by the flooding.

Roads in the capital were also affected.

Climate change is real people.

Some social media users urged their fellows to stop "defaming the country".

The Sindh government fired a shot at the ruling PTI.

And many people called for President Arif Alvi to "save" the residents of Islamabad. In 2017, President Alvi, then an MNA, set off in a boat to rescue people in Karachi.

We hope the residents of the city stay safe and stay indoors during the rain.

It might be a good idea to preserve and conserve this precious water in underground tanks on long term basis to be used at a later point in time, as and when needed.

Bad and amateurish city planning under PPP and PMLN administration responsible for this, illegal structures should be demolished, professional better city planning needed.

When greed overrules environmental concerns, societies are built on areas which have for centuries been a natural drain taking rain water to the nearest river. This is bound to happen.

People blaming present govt are only showing their immaturity and irresponsible behaviour, the only reason is unplanned construction by private constructors in E11, responsibility lie upon planner and approvers

@Multani ----------Bad and amateurish city planning under PPP and PMLN administration responsible for this, illegal structures should be demolished, professional better city planning needed. PTI is worst than PPP and PMLN, they are giving permissions for building plazas to their chosen ones to built on many green areas in Islamabad. The initial demolishing of illegal buildings was just a publicity stunt, so many buildings are popping up on green belts in the sectors and outsides you would be surprised.

Urban flooding is normal in every part of the world but if it reoccurs then it is sinister and bad planning.

Heart goes out to the citizens of Islamabad. The way mainstream media portrays it, I thought such things only happen in Sindh, especially Karachi. The collapse of Islamabad airport's ceiling along with this shows that the problem plagues the entire country, even the capital.
