'Disastrous start': Pakistani Twitterati bemoan team's dismal batting in World Cup opening match
West Indies bowlers produced a ruthless display to dismiss Pakistan for a mere 105 in their World Cup opener.
There is nothing that unites Pakistanis like cricket and on Friday, as Pakistan played its World Cup opener against West Indies, the country's Twitterati were united in feeling the sting from the team's batting collapse.
Pakistan were skittled out for 105 in 21.4 overs in the second match of the Cricket World Cup at Trent Bridge. The batting order capitulated from 75-4 and lost its last six wickets in 5.3 overs, leaving many Pakistanis to ask: "Why?"

Journalist Zahid Hussain called it a "disastrous start of Pakistan cricket team in the World Cup".
"Clearly no one told Pakistan that the warm up matches are over," remarked Al Jazeera correspondent Asad Hashim.
Pakistani cricket commentator and former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar did not have words to comment on the batting.
Cricket statistician Mazher Arshad put the numbers into perspective, saying: "This is Pakistan's shortest innings in the World Cup history and second lowest total after 74 vs England in Adelaide in 1992."
Writer Ahmer Naqvi asked people to "retweet if your team's total is less than your currency's exchange rate to the dollar".
Entertainer Fakhr-e-Alam posted a poll, inquiring as to what the reason for the poor performance could be: "Short pitch bowling, mental block, World Cup pressure, Roza lag raha thaa?"
Human rights activist Kapil Dev in reference to Prime Minister Imran Khan's advice to the team said: "Imran Khan asked the team to give their 100% and they gave 105."
However, there were a few who still saw some sort of a silver lining: "Just a friendly reminder to all the naysayers that we lost our first match of the 1992 World Cup to the West Indies by 10 wickets."

Among the cricket playing nations, it is Pakistan which has an abundance of cricketing talent. Your bowlers & batsmen, if chosen correctly, the team is capable of beating anyone hands down. As someone has correctly mentioned, nepotism is the likely cause of this loss. Hopefully, team will recover and deliver better results in the rest of the matches.

Well I think it's too early, I have a very strong feeling that this squad will come together & gel and we will see some real good results. Clearly there's lack of planning which is very obvious. Didn't look like they have a game plan and everybody got there to play shots. There didn't seem to be a strategy as to ok we lost some quick wickets so let's do some consolidation and rebuild.
But - it happens on your bad day, Inshallah we'll have good days as well.
Being very positive and have lot of faith in this team.

The disasterous greenshirts start in the 2019 World Cup Cricket Tourney at Trent Bridge, Nottingham is inexcusable. Nevertheless, they have to play eight more robin-league basis matches before qualifying for the semi-finals. This is definitely not the end but could be a big wake-up call.

No excuses at all .. they were the very first team to arrive in England and played 4 one dayers and the batsmen had pretty decent outings with three 300+ totals.
And singling out imam is not fair ..
Primarily it's mickey and sarfraz who could not finalize a playing eleven uptil now .. how can u have a strategy wen u don't know whom to play ..
and the it's the pathetic batting display from the batsmen ..

Afghanistan and West Indies and the bottom teams, and Pakistan has lost badly to both. Any respectful captain or coach would have resigned in humiliation but not this lot. Wins and losses are part of the game, but how you loose and to whom is critical for judgement. I have said repeatedly, Sarfraz has no cricketing or leadership skills, has place in the team. Coaching staff too need to go, players lack basic batting skills. what are coaches getting paid for?

This is almost the same team which accidently won the CT and won praises from all corners ..
teams ODI performance has been extremely poor since the CT win .. so why so much hue and cry .. why have we created such a hype and are so surprised by the performance of the team ..
It is basically mickey and sarfrazs failure that they could not finalize 15 member squad for WC till the eleventh hour .. and they had no clue how to approach the WC as they don't even have the playing 11 combination ..
And mickey was always had strange ideas .. he never liked wahab but he was included the last moment .. and his love for imad and aamir is also evident despite their below par performances ..
Inzi is also partner in crime for many of his decisions and not able to finalize the final 15 ..

After every loss in cricket, instead of finding what is wrong with our performance, we have this habit of starting a blame game. Hasn't this very team under Sarfaraz given us good wins. Sarfaraz Captaincy record isn't too bad,specially in T20IS and also in ODIs.
We should examine our lack of consistence performance more closely and find out what is wrong. Our weakest department is fielding and that is where we loose a lot of our moral as a hard working bowler doesn't like a catch being floored. A weak performance of a fielder shouldn't be unnoticed and should be warned and if repeated should be punished for a couple of games.Also we should give rigorous batting practice against all types of bowling and likewise our bowlers should be made to bowl against a best batsmen line up,preferably bowling 8 ball overs to gain stamina.Weather also plays an important role here and our team should be prepared to play in cold,hot and rainy weather.
