In pictures: Celebrations across Pakistan on its 70th birthday

Despite political turmoil, the country is enveloped by a festive mood.

Despite political turmoil, terrorism, dwindling economy, celebration is in the air on the 70th anniversary of Pakistan. Government officials participate in flag hoisting ceremonies on symbolic monuments across the country, while Pakistan Air Force's largest air show is underway in Islamabad, which will also showcase aerobatic teams from Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

The celebrations will also be joined by Vice Premier of the State Council of China, Wang Yang and who arrived in the capital with a high-level delegation yesterday.
