Ravi Ingale from University of Pune Sep 04, 2013 02:34pm

Karachi is dangerous city than Quetta and Peshawar.

Ahmar Mustikhan Sep 04, 2013 03:29pm

It is sad the largest city of Pakistan is being controlled by militants belonging to ethnic political parties and groups who can kill in broad daylight.

SRK Sep 04, 2013 03:31pm

I am glad, that MQM and JISQM are not there, as the trouble makers, otherwise, pir Saheb would not have approved it

Azeem Ali Sep 04, 2013 06:09pm

As per the stats given, I think LEA should not have any problem in doing the operation. But But But... if they are really willing to do it...

Khanm Sep 04, 2013 08:57pm

The most violent flash point in the world is Palistan. Karachi is just a small part. Take care of the greater problem first.

a Sep 04, 2013 09:03pm

It seems like the writer belongs to MQM, which totally explains the biased reporting here.

Aftab Kenneth Wilson Sep 05, 2013 01:03am

In the jurisdiction of Jamshed Quarters is also Lines Area where my close relatives were looted on gun point in the first half of this month and today two families were also looted near Taj Complex/Hospital which comes under Brigade Police station. Police in this area is seen no where after 9 pm.

Abdul Basit Sep 05, 2013 01:06am

Any government that fails to provide peace and security for its citizens should be ashamed to call themselves in power and deserves to resign or be removed.

Bashir Rehmat. Sep 05, 2013 03:12am

We pary for your success!! The actual problem that Pakistan is facing today needs to be tackled with the iron fist. We support the move and pray of its 100% success. I want to see Pakistan of 60s when Karachi was said the parental city of every Pakistani.

SRK Sep 05, 2013 03:29am

@Ravi Ingale from University of Pune: But not more dangerous than New Delhi for the commuting girls.

karachi Bhai Sep 05, 2013 06:50am

More than 60% is occupied militants.

zahid Sep 05, 2013 10:46am

Very interesting and knowledgeable facts. The remedy will be possible if lawenforcement agencies should act honestly to curb the crime. Otherwise this operation will be fail as in past

Moiz Sep 05, 2013 11:38am

And Lyari wins!

Umair Sep 05, 2013 11:53am

It is a pity that DAWN had put the all the responsibility of terrorism on TTP and hadn't named any political parties who have been identified even by Supreme Court of Pakistan. Moreover, Karachi is facing some kind of terrorism since last 25 years. Who was responsible for terrorism at that point of time when as per report TTP has recently gain some control in Karachi.

Kashif Sep 05, 2013 02:25pm

Karachi is a broken egg. It has no future.

Ahmed Sep 05, 2013 03:31pm

With the present CM and Governor, we cannot expect anything, there is no control on the entry and exit points in Karachi. This is extremely shameful for Nawaz Shariff. All areas of Karachi looks like Jamaica, even DHA people are moving freely with guns

M. Iqbal Sep 05, 2013 04:27pm

Good for all if this tyranny ends.

Waqar Sep 05, 2013 05:49pm

Once upon a time not long ago, i used to live in Lahore.. Life was peaceful then.. since i moved to Karachi, well.....

IM Sep 05, 2013 08:24pm

Farheen Sep 05, 2013 08:45pm

Quite an alarming picture. What's more alarming is how some areas of Karachi are still not included/shaded in this map which obviously means a larger figure of dead people, since that is what human lives have been reduced to now: mere figures.

Zia Ahmed Sep 06, 2013 01:41am

This operation will be most unique in our country's history where criminals are told to hide before it starts. They have already disappeared and will be back with more force in few months.

Jinnah Sep 06, 2013 09:40am

Great job govt. for alerting the terrorists in advance of the operation. I also think that until and unless Karachi is completely sealed off 24/7 with checkpoints there will be no peace here ever again. This operation will be useless. Think about it, by the time operation takes place the looters can go under ground.

Jinnah Sep 06, 2013 09:44am

@Ahmed: I agree brother without strict exit/ entry points local police can't handle world famous thugs.

Jinnah Sep 06, 2013 09:47am

@Khanm: No sir , Karachi first. This is where the real financing comes from both for terrorists and also the mujahideen/ looters.

karachiite Sep 06, 2013 10:42am

@Bashir Rehmat. : In 60, it was the capital as well

Ali Sep 06, 2013 06:28pm

@Waqar. Just like you, most moved from KPK, Punjab and other parts to khi. since khi is no more peacefull, you guys should move back.
