QUETTA, May 1: A division bench of Balochistan High Court on Wednesday set aside the imprisonment sentence awarded by an accountability court to former minister Bismillah Khan Kakar, a leader of the Pakistan People’s Party.
The bench comprising Chief Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed and Justice Akhtar Zaman Malghani accepted the appeal of the petitioner challenging the verdict of the Quetta accountability court.
The accountability court had sentenced Mr Kakar to three years imprisonment for not appearing to face two corruption references.
The high court had earlier granted bail to the petitioner.
The judges set aside the sentence and ordered that the case be presented before the trial court.
