KARACHI, Dec 7: A young man committed suicide in the city on Friday.

Shahid, aged 23, a powerloom factory worker and father of four, was living alone in Orangi Town. He was worried because of his domestic problems. Lately, he had often been seen in a melancholy mood.

On Friday, he strangled himself when he was alone in his home.

His neighbours peeped inside and they found him dead. The police were informed which reached the spot. The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.

The police had no vital clue as to whether the young man committed suicide, or he was killed, or he died a natural death.

ARRESTED: Police arrested four bandits on Friday who were fleeing after committing a robbery, during Iftar, in a house in PIB Colony.

The police said that four armed men forced their way into a house in Ghausia Colony, PIB Colony, when Javed Qureshi and his family were having Iftar. The bandits held a little girl as hostage at gunpoint and cleaned up the house of all valuables. As they were fleeing after committing the robbery, Javed Qureshi raised alarm. A police mobile chased after the bandits and arrested them after an exchange of fire.

No one was injured in the exchange of fire, as streets were empty at Iftar time, the police said.

The four bandits were identified as Sajid, Ahsan, Imran and Shahzad. The police recovered all the stolen goods besides one pistol and several rounds from their possession.

The SHO PIB said that during interrogation, the bandits told the police that they had come from Gujaranwala and had been staying with an activist of an ethnic party.

“The bandits were planning more robberies before Eid, before returning to their hometown,” the SHO said.
