Raees shows the way

KARACHI, Dec 5: Wrangler CC registered an easy eight- wicket victory over Ideal Group, in the Paragon Cup cricket tournament played Wednesday at the UBL Sports Complex.

Put in to bat after losing the toss, Ideal Group were dismissed for only 154 runs in 23.3 overs, although Atif Ali had a useful 54 runs which came off only 49 deliveries laced with four boundaries and one six. The openers Mohammad Rizwan (26) and Shahid Aslam (20), also contributed with the willow.

Right-arm leg-spinner Raees Ahmed was the pick of the Wrangler bowling attack, claiming three for five. Slow left-arm spinner Ali Abbas (2-29), gave him some useful support.

Needing 155 runs for victory, Raees Ahmed opening the innings led the way with a useful knock of 56 runs which contained six shots that reached the ropes. Asadullah on the other hand slammed 34 runs in only 15 deliveries, with seven fours and one six. With Mansoor Baig (21) and Kashif Hanif (35 n.o.) also joining the fray, Wrangler CC moved smoothly to an eight- wicket triumph while reaching 155 for two off 22.2 overs.
