LAHORE, March 29: Special Judge Customs, Syed Naseeb Ali Shah, on Saturday awarded 14-year imprisonment and Rs500,000 fine to a gold smuggler.

The convict, Muhammad Ashraf, was arrested by the Rangers in 1999 when he was on his way to Pak-Indian border area along with his accomplices. The officials retrieved 2.5 kilograms of gold from him.

A case was registered against him.—APP
