GUJRAT, March 27: B-Division police have registered a case against a man, who was allegedly using the name of local Chaudhrys through a letterhead for getting telephone connections and selling those to the residents of Kharian.
Zahoor Elahi House press secretary Hameedullah Bhatti alleged in the FIR No 89/2003, lodged under sections 420, 468, 469, 471 PPC, that the suspect had got printed a letterhead bearing the name Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi House. He said the suspect sold telephone connections to the residents of Kharian.
Conducting private investigation, Mr Bhatti said it was learnt that Nisar Ahmad, son of Muhammad Husain, had prepared a fake letterhead on which he used to make fake signatures of PML-Q’s Chaudhry Wajahat Husain.
The FIR also revealed that an applicant had given to police a letter, having fake signatures of Chaudhry Wajahat and Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi House printed on it, and another letter having the Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication printed on it. He added that a list of some residents of Kharian, who have purchased the connections from the suspect was also given to the police.
Preliminary investigation conducted by police revealed the man had written a letter to the Kharian PTCL higher-up, demanding telephone connections for some local PML-Q activists, police sources told this correspondent on the condition of anonymity.
They also said the accused had obtained more than 25 connections, which he sold to some people between Rs5,000 and Rs10,000.
When contacted on telephone, the B-Division police station’s moharrar said a court had granted interim bail to the accused.
